Earlier this month we heard that the Jolla Tablet would not be made available to all of their crowdfunding backers and now the company has announced that the tablet is being killed off.
The developers of the Jolla Tablet have announced that they will ship a total of 540 tablets to Indiegogo backers, this will start in February.
We have been analyzing different alternatives regarding the Jolla Tablet project situation. But no matter how you come at it, the tight financial situation remains a major constraint and therefore a main driver of the solution. Furthermore, due to the delays in the latest financing round it has simply become too late to produce all the tablets for the project. The supplier no longer has the needed components and many of them are no longer available. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done now to change this.
The remaining backers will get a refund and the company has said that it intends to refund the total amount that backers paid for the device, the refund will be done in two parts, half will be paid in quarter one and the other half within the year,.
You can find out more details about getting a refund at the link below, the company has said that they are emailing all backers.
