Jaguar Land Rover has developed a new virtual windscreen that is designed to help you keep your eyes on the road, called the Jaguar Virtual Windscreen.
Instead of displaying all the information you need on the dashboard, like your speed and navigation information, everything is displayed on the windscreen using a heads up display, have a look at the video below.
The Jaguar Virtual Windscreen will show your current speed, any road hazards, navigation data, and it comes with modes for the road and the track, the track mode will show you things like racing line and also give you breaking guidance.
Dr Wolfgang Epple, Director of Research and Technology for Jaguar Land Rover said: “We are working on research projects that will give the driver better information to enhance the driving experience. By presenting the highest quality imagery possible, a driver need only look at a display once. Showing virtual images that allow the driver to accurately judge speed and distance will enable better decision-making and offer real benefits for every day driving on the road, or the track.”
The company has also said that they are looking into technology that could replace the rear view mirror and external mirrors on their cars, replacing them with cameras and virtual displays.
It certainly looks very interesting from the video, you can find out more information on this new technology over at Jaguar Land Rover at the link below.
