Apple have used an 8 megapixel sensor in their iPhone for a while now, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 6 both come with an 8 megapixel camera.
Now according to a recent report the new iPhone 6S will also come with an 8 megapixel camera, although the camera is expected to feature a number of improvements over the existing handset.
The news comes from Analyst Jeff Pu who recently looked into the financial situation of Apple’s camera supplier, Largan Precision Co.
Pu said that the camera specifications of the next-generation iPhone, dubbed iPhone 6S, will stay the same as the current iPhone 6 at 8-megapixels, limiting potential catalysts to push Largan’s stock price higher in the second half of the year.
Both the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are expected to feature a similar design to the existing handsets, it will be the hardware inside the devices that get upgraded, and both devices are rumored to use the new Apple A9 processor.
We previously heard rumors that the new iPhone 6S may launch with a dual lens camera, it is possible that the handset could come with dual 8 megapixel cameras.
