Apple launched the iPhone 5 back in October of last year, and now we are already starting to here rumors about the next generation iPhone, the iPhone 5S, which according to recent reports will go into production in March of this year.
The news comes from Jeffries analyst Peter Misek, who has said that production of the iPhone 5 will start in March of this year with a possible launch date of June or July.
Our checks indicate that preliminary builds for the iPhone 5S will start in March for a launch in June/July. As word of the earlier production schedule starts to spread, we believe we could see a slight slowing of demand CQ1 in anticipation of the new product launch and Apple will likely start curtailing channel inventory.
There are apparently two iPhone 5S prototypes in testing, one of which will apparently be a lower cost device with a cheaper casing, of course this is all just rumor at the moment and we will have to wait till later in the year to find out.
It will be interesting to see if Apple sticks to the annual schedule of September or October for the iPhone 5S, like they have done in the previous two years or if they decide to switch back to a June or July release like they did in previous years prior to the iPhone 4S.
Apple has now released a new iPhone SE to replace the iPhone 5S, have a look at out guide on the iPhone 5S vs iPhone SE.
