The HTC Gratia has already gone on sale in some countries in Europe, which include Sweden, and HTC has now confirmed that the HTC Gratia will be available in the UK in quarter one of 2011, so let’s hope that’s some time in January.
The HTC Gratia was announced back in October. As a reminder, it features a 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen display and comes with Android 2.2 Froyo. There is also a 600MHz Qualcomm processor.
The Gratia is a dual-band 900/2100 HSPA/WCDMA smartphone, and it also features 802.11 b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a 3.5mm audio jack, GPS, g-sensor, and a microSD card slot.
Design and Build Quality
The HTC Gratia boasts a sleek and compact design, making it an attractive option for those who prefer a smaller, more manageable smartphone. The device measures 103.8 x 57.7 x 11.7 mm and weighs just 115 grams, making it lightweight and easy to carry around. The build quality is robust, with a solid feel that belies its relatively low price point. The back cover is made of a soft-touch material that provides a good grip, reducing the chances of accidental drops.
Software and Performance
Running on Android 2.2 Froyo, the HTC Gratia offers a user-friendly interface with access to a wide range of apps through the Google Play Store. The 600MHz Qualcomm processor, while not the fastest on the market, is sufficient for everyday tasks such as browsing the web, checking emails, and using social media apps. The device also comes with HTC’s Sense UI, which adds a layer of customization and additional features to the Android experience.
The Gratia’s 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display offers a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, providing clear and vibrant visuals. While it may not compete with the high-definition displays of more recent smartphones, it is more than adequate for viewing photos, watching videos, and playing games.
The device also includes a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, allowing users to capture decent quality photos and videos. While it lacks advanced features such as optical image stabilization or 4K video recording, it is a solid performer for its price range.
We still don’t have any details on how much the HTC Gratia will cost when it hits the UK, although it is retailing in Sweden for 399 Euros SIM-free, which would mean that it should cost around £335 here in the UK.
In terms of connectivity, the HTC Gratia covers all the basics. The 802.11 b/g WiFi ensures that you can connect to wireless networks with ease, while Bluetooth 2.1+EDR allows for quick and efficient pairing with other devices such as headphones and speakers. The inclusion of a 3.5mm audio jack is a welcome feature, allowing users to use their favorite wired headphones without the need for an adapter.
The GPS functionality is another useful addition, making the Gratia a handy device for navigation and location-based services. The g-sensor enhances the user experience by automatically adjusting the screen orientation based on how the device is held.
The microSD card slot provides expandable storage, allowing users to increase the device’s capacity by up to 32GB. This is particularly useful for those who like to store a large number of photos, videos, and apps on their device.
Overall, the HTC Gratia is a well-rounded smartphone that offers a good balance of features and performance for its price. While it may not have the latest and greatest specs, it is a solid choice for those looking for a reliable and affordable Android device.
