Android 5.0 Lollipop is the biggest Android update to-date. Many OEMs, including HTC, have already confirmed they are going to release the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop as soon as possible. The Taiwanese company confirmed they will release the update for a handful devices within 90 days of receiving the update from Google.
Recently, HTC revealed the Google Play Edition devices are expected to get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update as early as next week, which is definitely a great news.
The news comes from HTC’s Mo Versi who confirmed on Twitter that Google Play Edition devices will get the update next week. However, he failed to mention if it will commence with the HTC One M8 or last year’s M7 — though it’s likely the roll out will commence with the new HTC One M8, followed by is predecessor. There’s also a chance that it makes its way to both devices at the same time, you never know.
The new update comes with a handful of features including the all-new Material Design, which introduces fluid animations and a new interface, improved notifications, improved battery saver more, and a lot more.
If you’re rocking a GPE HTC handset, keep an eye on the notifications area next week. We’ll update you as soon as the roll out process begins.
