Hewlett-Packard has created a new modular Thunderbolt 3 USB-C dock with an option to add a removable mini speaker from Bang & Olufsen that neatly sits on top of the dock. As you’ve already probably guessed, the Bang & Olufsen speaker is available to purchase separately for the Thunderbolt Dock G2. Offering the ability to make conference calls (controlling Skype conference calls with one-touch keys), listening to audio or simply as an additional speaker connected to your computer.
Connections on the Thunderbolt Dock G2 include a powered USB 3.0 port, Thunderbolt 3, USB-C DisplayPort, 2 x DisplayPort ports, VGA port, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, Ethernet jack and a 3.5mm combo audio jack. The small dock It is capable of providing up to 100W of power offering the capability to support up to two 4K displays or 4 displays max at a lower resolution.
The HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 will connect to HP ProBooks, EliteBooks, Elite x2, up to HP ZBooks and ZBook x2 devices. Unfortunately, no information on pricing has been released as yet by Hewlett-Packard for their modular Thunderbolt 3 USB-C dock or the Bang & Olufsen speaker, but the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C dock is expected to make an appearance sometime during May 2018 as soon as information comes to light, we will keep you updated as always.
