GoPro has announced the launch of the GoPro Developer Program and they have teamed up with around 100 different companies to develop apps and accessories for their GoPro devices.
Including in the list of 100 companies are BMW who are making a lap timer app for GoPro cameras, Fisher Price is developing mounts for children’s toys and there are many more projects in the work with companies like Periscope.
Innovative Collaborations
The GoPro Developer Program is not just about creating new products; it’s about fostering a community of innovation. BMW’s lap timer app, for instance, is designed to integrate seamlessly with GoPro cameras, allowing drivers to capture their laps with precise timing and video synchronization. This can be particularly useful for professional racers and enthusiasts who want to analyze their performance in detail.
Fisher Price’s involvement is equally exciting. By developing mounts for children’s toys, they are opening up new possibilities for young adventurers to capture their playtime from unique perspectives. Imagine a child’s toy car equipped with a GoPro, capturing every twist and turn of their imaginative journeys. This not only makes playtime more interactive but also allows parents to relive those precious moments.
Periscope, known for its live streaming capabilities, is working on projects that could potentially allow GoPro users to stream their adventures live to their followers. This could revolutionize the way we share experiences, making it possible to broadcast high-quality, action-packed footage in real-time.
Empowering Developers
“Over the last few years we’ve been excited by the creativity and enthusiasm other brands have demonstrated when integrating GoPro into their own solutions,” said Nick Woodman, CEO and founder of GoPro. “The GoPro Developer Program is a way for us to celebrate the innovative work of our developer community and more importantly, help enable what comes next. We’re grateful to benefit from the collective genius of the participating developers and we’re excited to now officially support their efforts with our developer toolkits.”
The GoPro Developer Program is designed to empower developers by providing them with the tools and resources they need to create innovative solutions. The developer toolkits include APIs, SDKs, and other technical resources that make it easier for developers to integrate GoPro technology into their own products and services.
For example, developers can use the GoPro API to control camera functions, access media, and even integrate GoPro footage into their own apps. This opens up a world of possibilities for creating custom solutions tailored to specific needs. Whether it’s a fitness app that uses GoPro footage to analyze workout performance or a travel app that integrates GoPro videos to enhance travel experiences, the potential applications are endless.
The program also includes a support system for developers, offering technical assistance and guidance to help them bring their ideas to life. This collaborative approach ensures that developers are not working in isolation but are part of a larger community that shares knowledge and expertise.
