We are expecting to see the new Google Pixel 2 later this year and now it looks like we have some details on how many units of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL have been sold.
Google have not released any specific sales figures for their Pixel handsets, although sales of the handsets are said to be around 1 million.
The guys over at Ars Technica looked at how many installs there were of Pixel Launcher on the Google Play Store this is listed as between 1 million and 5 million, this just happened recently which means there are now over 1 million installs of the Pixel Launcher.
The Pixel Launcher is only available on the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, so from this we can work out that the app is installed on over one million handsets that Google has sold.
This means that Google has probably sold around one million units of their Pixel smartphone in the last 8 months. When the handset was launched it was said to be Google’s answer to Apple iPhone, but Apple sells between 40 and 50 million iPhones each quarter, so it looks like the Pixel is way off doing any damage on Apple’s sales figures.
We are expecting to see the new Google Pixel 2 some time later this year, it will come with Android 8.0, as soon as we get some more details on the device and a launch date, we will let you guys know.
