Samsung and Google are holding a special event next week, where they are expected to unveil the latest Google smartphone, which will either be called the Google Nexus Prime or the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
The Google Nexus Prime will be the first Android device to come with the latest version of Google’s mobile OS, Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and we have heard some of the rumored specifications previously.
According to the guys over at Droid Life, the Google Nexus Prime will be available in Verizon, as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, some time in November, and it is expected to retail for $299 when you sign up to a new two year contract.
Expected Features and Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus, also known as the Google Nexus Prime, is anticipated to come with a range of impressive features. Rumors suggest that the device will sport a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, providing users with a crisp and vibrant viewing experience. Additionally, it is expected to be powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, ensuring smooth performance and efficient multitasking.
The smartphone is also likely to include a 5-megapixel rear camera capable of recording 1080p HD video, along with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and selfies. With 1GB of RAM and options for 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, the Galaxy Nexus will offer ample space for apps, photos, and media. Furthermore, the device is expected to feature NFC (Near Field Communication) capabilities, which will enable users to make mobile payments and share data wirelessly with other NFC-enabled devices.
Android Ice Cream Sandwich
One of the most exciting aspects of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is that it will be the first device to run on Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). This latest version of Google’s mobile operating system aims to unify the smartphone and tablet user experiences, offering a consistent interface across different device types. ICS introduces a range of new features and improvements, including a redesigned user interface, enhanced multitasking, and improved notifications.
The new OS also brings a host of new functionalities, such as Face Unlock, which allows users to unlock their device using facial recognition technology. Additionally, ICS includes an updated web browser with better performance and a new tabbed interface, as well as improved voice input capabilities and a revamped camera app with new editing tools and effects.
We will have more details on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus or the Google Nexus Prime, when it is made official by Samsung next week.
