We have already seen Google’s new Nexus 4 smartphone being taken apart and now it is the turn of their latest Android tablet, the Google Nexus 10, which was taken apart by the guys from Powerbook Medic.
According to the guys at Powerbook Medic, the Google Nexus 10 was relatively easy to take apart. Have a look at the photos below, which show us what is inside the Nexus 10.
One thing that struck us about this disassembly was the complete ease of taking this tablet apart. Whereas Apple seems to be making it more and more difficult to repair devices by combining parts and using as much glue as possible, Google seems to be taking the complete opposite approach. The end result is a device that is extremely repairable. Go Google!
Ease of Disassembly
The ease of disassembly for the Nexus 10 is a significant point of discussion. Unlike many modern devices that are designed to be as compact and integrated as possible, often at the expense of repairability, the Nexus 10 stands out. The tablet’s design allows for relatively straightforward access to its internal components. This is a refreshing change in an industry where manufacturers often prioritize sleek designs over user-friendly repair options. For instance, Apple’s devices are known for their use of proprietary screws and copious amounts of adhesive, making them challenging to open and repair without specialized tools and expertise.
Internal Components and Repairability
Inside the Nexus 10, the components are laid out in a manner that makes them accessible and replaceable. This includes the battery, which is often one of the first components to degrade in any electronic device. The ability to easily replace the battery can significantly extend the lifespan of the tablet, making it a more sustainable choice for consumers. Additionally, other components such as the motherboard, speakers, and cameras are also designed to be easily replaceable. This modular approach not only benefits individual users who may want to perform their own repairs but also makes it easier for professional repair services to offer affordable fixes.
