The pre-orders of iPhone 5C went live last week in US and other launch countries. For iPhone 5S, Apple is not offering pre-orders in any launch country except China and Hong Kong. The online reservation went live earlier this morning, and within two hours, the gold iPhone 5S 16GB version was sold out in Sanlitun, Xidan Joy City, and Wangfujing Apple Stores, followed by the silver model.
The latest update mentions that only 16GB Space Gray model of iPhone 5S is available for reservations. Both iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C were up for reservations with the pick-up date scheduled for September 20th. This is the first time Apple launched its devices at the same day as US.
In order to reserve your device, you need to send an SMS to a special phone number for booking code. With this code, customers can go online and choose the color, iPhone model, storage space and operator. In the end, the reservation system requires customers to provide government issued personal identification and can then complete the purchase by visiting the retail store at a specified time.
Earlier this week, we also saw several iPhone 5C models sell out in US Apple Store. It seems as if iPhone 5S gold is very popular in China as expected.
