Ford has a long history of auctioning off cool cars with all the proceeds going to charity. In the past, it auctioned off a Boss 302 Mustang and Ford is set to auction off another sweet Mustang. This time out Ford will put the very first production GT350 up for auction. The auction will take place on January 17 at the Barrett-Jackson event in Arizona.
The car is auction lot 3008 and will feature a 5.2L V8 producing over 500hp. Ford has said in the past that this is one of the most track capable cars it has produced. All the proceeds from the auction will benefit JDRF, a Type 1 diabetes research organization. The person who wins the auction will get to choose from the colors and packages from those available on the car.
The GT350 V8 marks Ford’s first use of a flat plane crank and it will be the most powerful naturally aspirated car Ford has ever made. The car will feature a 6-speed manual transmission and a Ford tuned Torsen LSD. We don’t know how much the car will go for, but it will likely be much more than you can walk into a Ford dealer and order a GT350 for.
