Flipboard has today announced the launch of their new audio service which links with SoundCloud, NPR, PRI and allows users to enjoy music, podcasts, news segments, ephemera and more, whilst flipping through Flipboard’s applications.
To start using the new Flipboard SoundCloud, simply click on the red ribbon to open up the new Audio category, or simply connect to SoundCloud within the accounts area of the application.

Enhanced Listening Experience
As you start playing music a note icon will appear in the bottom left corner of the Flipboard application, to allow you access to controls that enable you to customize your listening experience. This new feature is designed to seamlessly integrate audio content into your daily Flipboard routine, making it easier than ever to stay informed and entertained. Flipboard explains:
“Our Content Guide is now chock-full of some of the best sounds we could find. We’ve launched new partnerships with NPR and PRI and scoured SoundCloud’s massive community of sound creators to bring you some of our favorites—artists like Snoop Dogg and Diplo; music labels like Atlantic Records and Ninja Tune; podcasts from The New Yorker and Slate; and segments from shows like Radiolab and Science Friday.”
This integration means that users can now enjoy a wide variety of audio content without having to switch between different apps. Whether you’re in the mood for some relaxing music, an engaging podcast, or the latest news segments, Flipboard has you covered. The partnerships with NPR and PRI ensure that users have access to high-quality, reliable news sources, while the collaboration with SoundCloud brings a diverse range of music and audio content from independent creators and well-known artists alike.
Accessibility and Future Developments
In addition to the new audio features, Flipboard is now accessible for visually impaired users using Apple’s VoiceOver features. This is a significant step forward in making the app more inclusive and user-friendly for everyone. VoiceOver is a screen reader that allows visually impaired users to navigate their devices using spoken descriptions, and its integration with Flipboard means that more people can now enjoy the app’s rich content.
Moreover, Flipboard’s commitment to continuous improvement suggests that we can expect even more exciting features in the future. The company is known for its innovative approach to content curation and user experience, and the addition of audio content is just the latest example of this. As the app continues to evolve, users can look forward to even more ways to customize and enhance their Flipboard experience.
For example, future updates might include more personalized audio recommendations based on user preferences and listening habits. Additionally, there could be further integration with other popular audio platforms, expanding the range of available content even more. The possibilities are endless, and Flipboard’s dedication to providing a top-notch user experience means that we can expect great things in the future.
The launch of Flipboard’s new audio service marks an exciting development for the app and its users. By integrating with SoundCloud, NPR, and PRI, Flipboard has significantly expanded its content offerings, making it easier than ever to enjoy a wide variety of audio content. The addition of VoiceOver support also ensures that the app is accessible to a broader audience, further enhancing its appeal. As Flipboard continues to innovate and improve, users can look forward to even more exciting features and content in the future.
