Echostar Europe has unveiled its new Android-based HDX-200 set top box which has been designed to provide a compact, powerful and cost effective Android home entertainment system.
The HDX-200 runs Android 2.3 enabling you to use Android applications and is powered by a 1500D Mips-processor supported by 512 MB SDRAM and is compatible with MPEG-2, MPEG-4/H.264 AVC, WM-9/VC-1 AVC VP6, AAC, MP3 file types. It comes equipped with an ethernet connection for home networking, enabling you to view the Internet on your HDTV using its included HDMI connection.
Echostar explains:
“The objective was to develop a flexible, cost effective and universal IP product that can suit a number of applications in the field,” -“The HDX-200 was designed to be dual functioning – firstly, to enable over-the-top service providers to reach customers with TV centric apps and services, and secondly to be rolled out as a multi-room IP client device, allowing TV operators to extend services from a central gateway to other display devices throughout the home network.”
Together with HDMI and support for wireless networking to the 802.11n standard, S/PDIF and USB 2.0. The measure just w150mm x d107mm x h34mm and has been designed to provide a powerful multi-room solution if required.
No information about price an shipping has been released as yet by Echostar about their new set top box.
