There are lots of chess players out there who only play online. These folks tend to play with people all around the world. Some prefer the feel of real world chess pieces to the virtual parts though.
A new chess table made DIY style has turned up that lets players combine real world pieces with online games. The table uses a DIY projector made from a 128 x 64 LCD . As the person you are playing online moves his virtual pieces, arrows are projected onto the DIY chess board table.
The arrows let the player move the opposing pieces just as the online person is moving their virtual pieces. The whole setup is very cool and you can see the system in action in the video below.
