A new Android TV box called the CX-S500 has been launched this week which is very similar to the Xiaomi Mi Box Mini but offers users a standard version of Google’s Android 4.4 operating system rather than the custom Xiaomi MIUI software.
The small CX-S500 Android TV box is powered by an Amlogic S805 quad-core ARM Crotex-a5 processor supported by 1GB of RAM together with 8GB of internal storage.
The processor is supported by Mali-450 graphics and connectivity is provided by both Bluetooth and wireless support for 802.11b/g/n, together with a HDMI port to connect to your large screen TV. Unlike the Mi Box Mini the CX-S500 is also equipped with a USB port allowing users to connect a mouse, keyboard or extra storage device or other peripherals if desired.
The CX-S500 is now available to purchase for around $50 from sites such as Geekbuying, and Bangood.
