Advanced Features of CryENGINE 3
Crytek explains a little more about their CryENGINE 3 used to power the Crysis 3 game, which is set in 2047, 24 years after the end of Crysis 2.
“With CryENGINE®3, what you see is what you play as the new tools for the engine allow for tessellation in real-time, improved ocean and water rendering, enhanced character technology, and dynamic volumetric light beams and light shaft effects. These new tools can be appreciated in the beautiful visuals of Crysis 3, from the lush environments and lighting effects, to the detailed characters.”
The CryENGINE 3 is renowned for its ability to deliver stunning visuals and immersive gameplay experiences. The real-time tessellation allows for more detailed and realistic surfaces, which is particularly noticeable in the game’s lush environments. Improved ocean and water rendering make aquatic scenes more lifelike, adding to the overall immersion. Enhanced character technology ensures that the characters in the game are more realistic and expressive, contributing to a more engaging narrative experience. Dynamic volumetric light beams and light shaft effects add depth and atmosphere to the game, making every scene visually captivating.
Gameplay and Setting
Within Crysis 3, you play as Prophet, who returns to New York to find the city encased in a giant Nanodome, which has created an urban rainforest over New York, complete with overgrown trees, dense swamplands, and raging rivers. This unique setting offers a diverse range of environments for players to explore, from the dense foliage of the rainforest to the remnants of the urban landscape.
The Nanodome, created by the corrupt Cell Corporation, serves as a quarantine zone, ostensibly to protect the population from the alien Ceph. However, it quickly becomes apparent that the true purpose of the Nanodome is far more sinister. As Prophet, players must navigate this treacherous environment, battling both human and alien enemies, to uncover the truth and save humanity.
The gameplay in Crysis 3 is designed to be highly dynamic and offers players a variety of ways to approach each situation. The game’s open-world design allows for exploration and experimentation, giving players the freedom to tackle objectives in multiple ways. Whether you prefer stealthy takedowns or all-out assaults, Crysis 3 accommodates different playstyles.
The advanced AI in Crysis 3 ensures that enemies are challenging and react intelligently to the player’s actions. This, combined with the game’s impressive visuals and immersive environments, makes for a truly engaging gaming experience.
Crytek has also introduced new weapons and abilities in Crysis 3, including the powerful Predator Bow, which allows for silent and deadly attacks from a distance. The Nanosuit, a hallmark of the Crysis series, has been upgraded with new features and abilities, giving players even more options in combat.
In conclusion, Crysis 3 promises to be a visually stunning and highly immersive gaming experience, thanks to the advanced capabilities of CryENGINE 3. With its unique setting, dynamic gameplay, and engaging narrative, Crysis 3 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated games of 2013.
