Some code has been discovered in the current iOS which shows a couple of new Apple devices that are currently being tested out. One of them seems to be related to a CDMA iPhone which could relate to the Verizon iPhone we have been hearing about, whilst the other seems to be for a new iPad, the iPad 2.
The code for the devices bypasses the iTunes activation, and this usually happens when Apple is testing a device.
CDMA iPhone for Verizon
So we could very well see a CDMA iPhone for Verizon in January like we had previously heard. The CDMA technology is significant because it would allow the iPhone to be used on Verizon’s network, which operates on CDMA rather than GSM technology used by AT&T. This would be a major shift for Apple, as it would open up the iPhone to a whole new group of users who prefer Verizon’s network for its coverage and reliability.
