We have seen a couple of new digital cameras from Casio this week, like the Casio Exilim EX-FH25. Now, Casio has launched a new compact digital camera designed to take a beating, the Casio Exilim EX-G1.
The Casio Exilim EX-G1 is the first compact camera in Casio’s new G-series range, and it is designed to be able to withstand bumps and knocks, as well as water, dust, and cold temperatures.
Durability and Design
The casing is made from two layers. Inside, there is a buckle-locked fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate body, providing a robust internal structure. On the outside, the Casio Exilim EX-G1 is encased in stainless steel, offering additional protection against external impacts. This dual-layer design ensures that the camera can endure harsh conditions, making it ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and adventure photographers.
The camera is waterproof up to 10 feet for 60 minutes, dustproof, and can withstand temperatures as low as 14°F (-10°C). This makes it perfect for activities such as snorkeling, hiking in dusty environments, or skiing in cold weather. The rugged design does not compromise on style, as the camera maintains a sleek and modern appearance.
Technical Specifications and Features
The Casio Exilim EX-G1 features a 12.1-megapixel 1/2.3 inch CCD sensor, which ensures high-quality images with excellent detail and color accuracy. The 3x optical zoom offers a range equivalent to 38mm to 114mm, allowing for versatile shooting options from wide-angle to telephoto perspectives. This makes it suitable for capturing landscapes, portraits, and close-up shots.
The camera also boasts a 2.5-inch LCD display, providing a clear and bright screen for composing shots and reviewing images. The display is designed to be easily readable even in bright sunlight, which is essential for outdoor use.
In addition to still images, the Casio Exilim EX-G1 is capable of recording video at an 848 x 480 resolution. While this may not be Full HD, it is sufficient for capturing decent quality videos of your adventures. The camera also includes various shooting modes and scene settings, such as Best Shot mode, which automatically adjusts the settings based on the scene being captured.
Another notable feature is the camera’s interval shooting mode, which allows users to capture a series of images at set intervals. This is particularly useful for creating time-lapse videos or documenting long-duration events.
The Casio Exilim EX-G1 will go on sale in December for $299.99 and it will be available in two colors, black and red. This price point makes it an affordable option for those looking for a durable and reliable compact camera.
Update: 19th November 2009.
The Casio Exilim EX-G1 will go on sale in the UK in January of next year for £279.
