BlackBerry recently announced some details on how many apps were available in their BlackBerry World app store, what they didn’t mention is that one developer has contributed more than a third of all apps to their apps store.
There are around 120,000 apps available to download from BlackBerry World, 47,000 of those were submitted to the BlackBerry app store by a developer called S4BB.
The guys over at the Verge talked to BlackBerry about the amount of apps in the app store from just one developer and got the following statement.
Developers in all app stores employ a number of different monetization tactics. BlackBerry World is an open market for developers and we let market forces dictate the success or failure of these tactics. Discoverability in overcrowded stores continues to be an issue affecting all developers. This is why we have worked hand in hand with developers on the Built for BlackBerry program to help showcase apps and games that exemplify the power of BlackBerry 10.
