It seems that RIM may be pricing their BlackBerry Playbook tablet to take on Apple’s iPad, as RIM co-CEO JIM Balsillie recently revealed in an interview that the BlackBerry PlayBook will go on sale for under $500 in the first quarter of 2011.
As a reminder, the BlackBerry PlayBook features a 7 inch mutli touch capacitive LCD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600, there is also a 1GHz processors, 1GB of RAM and it will be available with 16GB and 32GB of storage.
Other specifications include integrated 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi and a microUSB connector, plus support for Adobe Flash 10.1, plus dual video cameras with a 3 megapixel camera on the front and a 5 megapixel camera on the back.
As soon as we get some official pricing details we will let you guys know, but with RIM pricing it at under $500 I wonder if it will actually be cheaper than the iPad and if this will be enough to entice buyers.
