AT&T has announced a new case for iPad users at CES 2015 called the Modio smartcase. The case will be offered for the iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2 and iPad mini and will allow owners of WiFi only versions of these tablets to connect them to the AT&T 4G LTE network. The Modio Smartcase is designed to protect the iPad tablets while on the go and has its own internal battery.
To start with, the Modio Smartcase will land in AT&T stores for the iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, and iPad mini. Cases for the iPad Air 2 and iPad Air will and in AT&T stores later. In addition to adding LTE connectivity for the WiFi only tablets, the case also has the ability to expand storage for iPad users.
The Modio smartcase has an integrated microSD card slot. The only downside is that the card slot supports a maximum capacity of 32GB. Power for the case comes from an internal 4600mAh battery good for up to ten hours of use per charge. AT&T says pricing and availability information will be offered later.
