Apple’s new iMac Pro went on sale last month, the computer is Apple’s most expensive iMac to date with a starting price of $5,000 and the top model costing as much as $14,000. Now we have a video of the new iMac Pro vs 5K iMac.
The iMac Pro is designed for professionals and it comes with some high end specifications, how does it perform against Applke’s standard 5K iMac. Dan from Mac Rumors tested out the new iMac Pro against a 5K iMac and also Aooke’s MacBook Pro, have a look at the video below.
As we can see from the video there are significant differences between the three Macs in the disk tests with the iMac Pro being way ahead of the other two.
The next test was exporting a the same video on all three devices, the MacBook Pro took 9 minutes and 34 seconds. The 5K iMac took 3 minutes and 50 seconds and the new iMac Pro was actually slower at exporting the video taking 4 minutes and 5 seconds. It looks like in overall performance the new iMac Pro is considerably ahead of the other two devices.
Is it worth the extra cost though? For everyday users like myself probably not, but if you are doing a lot of video editing and other labourt intensive tasks then it may be the one to go for.
