When Apple [AAPL] launched iOS 4 for the iPhone and iPod Touch, users had to agree to a new set of terms and conditions. One of the things that was found in the new terms and conditions were new privacy settings.
The new privacy settings, basically lets Apple gather location information from your iPhone and iPod Touch, and then the information is shared with their partners, so they can serve you more relevant iAds.
When Apple announced this feature, they also gave users the option to opt out of the targeted iAds by location, by clicking on a website link from their iPhone or iPod Touch, if you go to http://oo.apple.com you should be able to opt out.
We have tried this numerous times, on a couple of different devices running iOS4 and keep getting the same message, which you can see below.
Unsuccessful Opt Out
This device is not running iOS 4. iAds are only served to devices running iOS 4.
To opt-out of iAds on a device running iOS 4, you must enter the following address into the device’s
