We have just received our Apple TV here at Geeky Gadgets, so here are the obligatory unboxing photos of the new Apple TV. We will get a full review done once I have hooked it up to my TV and given it a good testing.
The first thing I noticed is how small the new Apple TV is, a lot smaller than the previous model, as you will see in some of the photos.
First Impressions and Design
The new Apple TV is impressively compact, measuring just a fraction of the size of its predecessor. This sleek, black box is designed to blend seamlessly with your home entertainment setup. The minimalist design is typical of Apple’s aesthetic, focusing on simplicity and functionality. The device features a single LED indicator on the front, which adds to its clean look.
The back of the Apple TV houses all the necessary ports, including HDMI, Ethernet, and a power connector. Notably, the new model has done away with the optical audio port, which might be a downside for some users who rely on it for their audio systems. However, the inclusion of an HDMI port ensures high-quality audio and video output.
Setup and Features
Setting up the Apple TV is straightforward. Once connected to your TV via HDMI and powered on, the on-screen instructions guide you through the setup process, including connecting to your Wi-Fi network and signing in with your Apple ID. The user interface is intuitive, making it easy for even the least tech-savvy individuals to navigate.
One of the standout features of the new Apple TV is its integration with Apple’s ecosystem. If you own other Apple devices, such as an iPhone or iPad, you can use them to control the Apple TV, thanks to the Remote app. Additionally, the device supports AirPlay, allowing you to stream content directly from your Apple devices to your TV.
The Apple TV also offers access to a wide range of streaming services, including Netflix, Hulu, and, of course, Apple’s own Apple TV+ service. The App Store on the Apple TV allows you to download additional apps and games, expanding the device’s functionality beyond just streaming.
As soon as we have had a good chance to test out all the features on the new Apple TV, we will get our full review done.
