The new Apple TV went on sale this week, and it seems initial sales may be impressive as there are reports of the new Apple TV selling out at many stores.
According to Alax Guana, an Analyst at JMP Research, initial sales of the Apple TV are strong, and this is obviously due to the much lower price point than the previous version.
We were not particularly surprised when we couldn’t get our hands on the Apple TV over this past introductory weekend in San Francisco, but when the scarcity persisted into this week it got us to checking and we subsequently learned that stores across the nation were selling out of their inventory on the same day as receipt in Boston, Chicago, New York and Washington D.C.,” he writes, “and online representatives corroborated this strength extends beyond our 20+ store checks.
What Steve Jobs still refers to as his ‘Hobby’ could end up being another very profitable product for Apple, and if Apple are able to develop it to add new features and enable apps, like the have done on other iOS based devices it could turn into a mainstream product.
