The new iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus all com with wireless charging and now Apple is buying wireless charging company PowerbyProxi.
Powerbyproxi was setup in 2007 and the company has focused on developing wireless charging technology. The company has a team of around 55 staff. They own around 300 patents relating to wireless technology.
Apple has apparently confirmed the acquisition and the team at the company will be joining Apple. There are no details on exactly how much Apple paid for the company.
The company’s founder Fady Mishriki said that he and his team are thrilled to be joining Apple “There is tremendous alignment with our values, and we are excited to continue our growth in Auckland and contribute to the great innovation in wireless charging coming out of New Zealand.”.
