Apple is apparently working in a new project to improve Apple Maps, the company has received FAA approval to use drones to collect data for Apple Maps.
The news comes in a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman who has revealed that Apple received FAA approval to use drones to collect Map data earlier this year.
Apple wants to fly drones around to do things like examine street signs, track changes to roads and monitor if areas are under construction, the person said. The data collected would be sent to Apple teams that rapidly update the Maps app to provide fresh information to users, the person added.
The company is apparently also working on a major update for Apple Maps which will be released some time next year, as soon as we get some more details about this, we will let you guys know.
