Just like Samsung, Apple is also rumored to be working on a gigantic 12.2-inch tablet, which will see the daylight sometime in 2014. Last month, we heard a rumor that the Cupertino company will unveil the larger 12.2-inch iPad in October later this year, along with a possibility of replacing the 11.1-inch Macbook Air.
According to a new report, it is speculated that Apple will unveil the gigantic iPad later this fall, with the next-generation A8 processor on board.
Evercore Partners analyst Patrick Wang, Apple will launch the larger iPad later this fall, focusing on the enterprise market, and will revolutionize the notebook PC market. He believes it will be a sort of hybrid and will be the direct competitor of Microsoft Surface lineup running Windows 8 OS.
The analyst also highlights the production costs of the iPad when compared to Macbook Air. Macbook Air accounts for 22 percent costs, while iPad only represents 4 percent of the total production costs to Apple. So, rumors regarding the larger iPad replacing Macbook Air could be true, we don’t know.
He also believes that Apple will not simply launch a larger iPad, it will serve as a hybrid device which can act as a notebook as well as a tablet.
