While hearing the name “DroidKungFu” undoubtedly conjures images of Google’s lime green mascot laying down the law for some unsavory types using nothing but its lime green fists and its lime green sense of justice, in the real and infinitely less awesome world, it’s actually the name given to a new brand of Android malware.
Researchers at North Carolina State University say that Android versions up to and including Froyo are vulnerable, and even Gingerbread only closes some of the exploits the malware uses. Attackers can reportedly “turn your phone into a bot – and basically make your smartphone do anything they want”.
