Apple already has a kill switch for its smartphones with its Activation Lock, and earlier today we heard that Microsoft is also getting ready to add a kill switch to Windows Phone, and now it looks like Google will also release theirs in Android 5.0.
Google recently told Bloomberg that its ‘factory reset protection solution’ will be available in their next major release of Android, so it looks like it will land in Android 5.0.
We are expecting Google to release Android 5.0 at their Google IO developer conference later this month, and as this is the next major release from the company, than we can expect the kill switch to be included.
Google recently teased Android 5.0, which leads us to believe that the company will release it at their Google IO developer conference this month.
The Google IO Developer conference takes place on the 25th and 26th of June in San Francisco, we are also expecting to hear more details about the new Nexus 8 tablet at the event.
One thing which is expected to feature heavily at the 2014 Google IO is Android Wear, and we are hoping to see the new Moto 360 and LG G Watch smart watches at the event.
