Last month we talked a bit about the Acer AC700 Chromebook that we expected to hit in June. The machine has now landed at Amazon and is up for sale. The notebook will presumably be shipping right now. I don’t expect a huge demand for the new OS to start.
The netbook is up for sale at $349 and it runs Google Chrome as the OS. The screen is an 11.6-inch unit with a matte finish. I like matte screens, glare is one of my pet peeves with most netbooks and notebooks. Other features include 2GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD for storage.
The netbook has an Atom N570 processor, which is the same on that the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook uses. The Acer offering has a 1.3MP webcam, WiFi, dual USB ports, HDMI output, and a 6-hour battery life.
