We are sad to hear that VW doesn’t list the mighty Golf R as part of its 2020 line of cars. What VW will offer in the Golf segment is the e-Golf in SE and SEL trims. The normal Golf is available in “one well-equipped trim” called the Value Edition.
The Golf GTI is returning in S, and SE trims. VW says that it is adding Front Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Traffic Alert as standard on all models. GTI buyers also get WiFi capability. An Autobahn package is offered for the GTI SE model that brings automatic dual-zone climate, navigation, and Fender premium audio.
The good news for Golf R fans is that reports indicate it will return with the Mk 8 version of the Golf. However, VW isn’t offering any details on when that car might debut.
