Toyota has announced a new sports car for the Japanese market that slots into the minivehicle segment in the country. The car is called the Copen GR Sport, and Daihatsu manufactures it. It has been optimized with knowledge learned in the Toyota Gazoo motorsports activities.
The car has extensive chassis bracing to aid handling and special suspension for performance. The interior has Recaro seats and a large center dash screen. Toyota is offering the hardtop convertible in manual and automatic versions.
The little sports car is a FWD model with a tiny turbo 660cc engine of unknown output. Toyota will offer the car in eight colors with all using the same black interior. The car sells in Japan for the equivalent of about 2,435,000 yen.
