Toshiba has announced a new version of the Portege R30 laptop that aims to be the full featured ultraportable. Typically, when you buy an ultraportable most of the features you want get ditched to make the machine lighter. The R30 is light at 3.2 pounds, but still has all the features you want like a DVD player and network jack.
The machine also has three USB 3.0 ports, a memory card reader, and a full size HDMI output. Processors available in the machine are Intel 4th gen mobile processors paired with up to 16GB of RAM. Storage options include a 1TB hybrid drive or a 512GB SSD. Professional users who need security will like the vPro technology and TPM.
Toshiba also integrates a fingerprint reader. The chassis of the notebook is magnesium alloy and it is designed with a honeycomb design inside to absorb shock and let the R30 survive life on the road. That chassis also features AirFlow II cooling tech to keep the notebook cool with extended use. The R30 is a 13-inch form factor ultraportable that is available now for $829.99. The machine can be purchased via Toshiba retailers.
