TomTom has added two new Sat Navs to its range with the launch of the TomTom Go 2405 TM and the GO 2505 TM. Both of these new models have had a complete re-design over previous models and they are built on a new system that was designed by monitoring traffic information.
The new system is designed to provide faster and smarter routes, based on the traffic monitoring, and both units now feature a new enhanced software platform.
At TomTom, we are continuously working to deliver innovative navigation solutions for our consumers,” said Tom Murray, senior vice president of market development, TomTom. “The GO Series combines new software architecture and enhanced routing to provide our consumers with superior driving intelligence.
Enhanced Features and User Experience
The TomTom Go 2405 TM and GO 2505 TM are not just about new looks; they come packed with features that aim to enhance the user experience significantly. One of the standout features is the new capacitive touchscreen, which offers multi-touch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom. This makes interacting with the device more intuitive and user-friendly.
Additionally, the new models come with voice recognition capabilities, allowing drivers to control the device without taking their hands off the wheel. This feature is particularly useful for making quick adjustments or searching for destinations while driving. The voice commands are designed to be highly accurate, reducing the need for manual input and thereby increasing safety.
Real-Time Traffic Updates and Smart Routing
One of the most significant improvements in the new TomTom models is the real-time traffic updates. The devices use TomTom’s proprietary traffic information system, which collects data from millions of drivers to provide the most accurate and up-to-date traffic information. This allows the Sat Navs to suggest alternative routes in real-time, helping drivers avoid traffic jams and reach their destinations faster.
The smart routing feature is another highlight. By analyzing historical traffic data and current conditions, the system can predict the best routes to take at different times of the day. This is particularly useful for daily commuters who can benefit from optimized routes that save time and fuel.
Both models will be available in the US from next year with prices at $299. This pricing makes them competitive options in the market, especially considering the advanced features they offer.
Additional Features and Benefits
The TomTom Go 2405 TM and GO 2505 TM also come with lifetime map updates, ensuring that users always have the most current maps without any additional cost. This is a significant advantage over other Sat Navs that may require costly map updates.
Another noteworthy feature is the advanced lane guidance, which helps drivers navigate complex junctions and highway exits with ease. The device provides clear visual and spoken instructions, making it easier to stay on the correct path.
For those who frequently travel to new places, the points of interest (POI) feature is incredibly useful. The Sat Navs come pre-loaded with millions of POIs, including restaurants, gas stations, and tourist attractions. This makes it easy to find essential services and interesting spots along the route.
In terms of design, both models are sleek and modern, with a slim profile that makes them easy to mount on the dashboard or windshield. The high-resolution screen ensures that maps and instructions are clear and easy to read, even in bright sunlight.
