Subaru has issued a massive recall that covers over 400,000 vehicles in the US. The recall is for two issues, with one having to do with engine computer problems. The second issue is much more serious.
Subaru says that 466,000 Imprezas from 2017 to 2019 and 2018 and 2019 Crosstreks have an engine computer that might keep powering the ignition coil after the motor is shut off. That could cause a short circuit that could blow a fuse. The software will be updated, coils replaced, and exhaust pipes replaced if needed.
The other covers 205,000 Imprezas from 2017 through 2019 and 2018 Crosstrejs. The aluminum positive crankcase ventilation valves can fall apart. The debris from that can enter the engine and cause power loss. The valve will be replaced if parts are missing and can’t be found the entire engine will be replaced.
