Boston Dynamics have unveiled their latest robot, this one if called Spot and he appears to be some sort of robotic dog.
The video below shows Spot in action, he appears to be able to walk on a number of different surfaces including rough terrain.
Spot is a four-legged robot designed for indoor and outdoor operation. It is electrically powered and hydraulically actuated. Spot has a sensor head that helps it navigate and negotiate rough terrain. Spot weighs about 160 lbs.
The video shows one of the team kicking the robot, this has been done to demonstrate that the robot is capable of keeping its balance and adjusting to its environment.
The company has been owned by Google since 2013 and the team behind the device work with Google’s robotics department which is run by Andy Rubin.
