Adding to the ever-growing list of available 3D printers to choose from, SmartBox Lab as this week unveiled their new SmartBox 3D printer which has been designed to provide users with an affordable machine with a large build area.
The SmartBox 3D printer offers a build area of 200 x 200 x 180 mm and is equipped with a extrusion nozzle measuring 0.4 mm in diameter together with a heated printing bed. Watch the video below to learn more.
The SmartBox 3D printer project is currently over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website looking to raise enough pledges to make the jump from concept to production. Its creators explain a little more about its design :
“SmartBox 3D printer applies the most stable XYZ structure. Through optimal design, its stability and durability has been strengthened based on its original advantage, and its accuracy has been enhanced by multi-aspect details.
The acrylic thickness applied in the theme frame, and the laser cutting that has a higher rigidity making the printer reach higher stability. The key components, like print head, apply whole aluminium alloy parts. Compared with the printout, it is more durable. In other aspect of accessories, in order to keep its aesthetics, it has given up simple and low cost cutting approach, and still adopts time waste and high cost printing approach.
This extruder is an integrated aluminium frame, which has been processed by CNC numerical control machine,in our facility, through the shell fabrication process. It has the best quality. When extruding the cold metal, it will not block the hollow throat of the machine as well as in non-printing condition.
SmartBox 3D printer can make the architects’ virtual 3D model to be direct molding, rapid prototyping to the customers, fast moulding of 3D printing technology, low cost, saving material, which is respected in the construction industry.”
