We’ve heard quite a lot about the Galaxy S8 over the past few days. We’ve seen leaked information as well as some leaked images of the device.
According to a new report surfacing from the company’s home country, Samsung expects to sell around 60 million units of the handsets of the Galaxy S8 when it launches later this year.
“The tech giant has requested its partners to supply (parts) based on the tech giant’s 60 million shipment goal,” the report quotes industry sources as saying. The 60 million figure is quite higher than the earlier flagship devices, but it’s just an estimate and the real number could be different after the handset is officially announced by the company.
Expected Features and Specifications
Rumors suggest the handset will ship with a 5.7-inch SUPER AMOLED display, which is known for its vibrant colors and deep blacks, providing an excellent viewing experience. Additionally, the Galaxy S8 is expected to come with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat, offering users the most recent features and improvements in the Android ecosystem.
One of the most talked-about changes is the potential removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack. This move follows the trend set by other major smartphone manufacturers, aiming to make devices slimmer and more water-resistant. Users may need to rely on wireless headphones or USB-C adapters for their audio needs.
Launch and Market Expectations
The handset is expected to launch at a dedicated event, possibly after the Mobile World Congress (MWC). The MWC is one of the largest and most significant events in the mobile industry, and many companies use it as a platform to showcase their latest innovations. However, Samsung might choose to hold a separate event to ensure the Galaxy S8 gets the spotlight it deserves.
Samsung’s ambitious goal of selling 60 million units is a testament to their confidence in the Galaxy S8’s appeal. For context, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge sold around 48 million units in their first year. The increased target suggests that Samsung believes the S8 will resonate even more with consumers, possibly due to its rumored advanced features and improvements over previous models.
The Galaxy S8 is also expected to feature an enhanced camera system, possibly with dual-lens technology, which has become increasingly popular in high-end smartphones. This would allow for better low-light performance, improved zoom capabilities, and more advanced photo editing options.
Another anticipated feature is the inclusion of a more powerful processor, likely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Samsung’s own Exynos 8895, depending on the region. This would ensure that the Galaxy S8 can handle the most demanding apps and games with ease, providing a smooth and responsive user experience.
We’ll update you as soon as we get to hear anything more. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
