The new Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus camera has taken the top spot in the DxOmark tests, the camera scored a total of 99. The previous leader was the Google Pixel 2 with a score of 98, this was then followed by the iPhone X with a score of 97.
The handset comes with two 12 megapixel rear cameras, one features a 1/2.55″ sensor and a lens with an f/1.5 / f/2.4 variable aperture. The other one comes with a 1/3.6″ sensor, 2x tele and f/2.4 aperture, both cameras feature optical image stabilization (OIS).
The new Galaxy S9 Plus performed very well in all of the DxOMark tests, this included in low light conditions where it produced impressive images.
“The Samsung’s performance in dimmer conditions is equally impressive. As you’d expect, there is a reduction in fine detail as the camera has to increase sensitivity and/or use multi-frame stacking technology to adapt to lower light levels, but the S9 Plus keeps an excellent balance between noise and detail across all light levels. Exposure is also good down to very low light.” ]
