What to Expect from the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus
Samsung are going to be unveiling their two new flagship Galaxy S9 handsets at the event. The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are expected to come with a range of new features and improvements over their predecessors. Rumors suggest that the new devices will feature a refined design, with slimmer bezels and a more ergonomic feel. The Galaxy S9 is expected to have a 5.8-inch display, while the S9 Plus will likely feature a larger 6.2-inch display.
Both models are anticipated to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor in the US and the Exynos 9810 in other markets. This will provide significant performance improvements and better energy efficiency. Additionally, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are expected to come with 4GB and 6GB of RAM, respectively, and storage options ranging from 64GB to 256GB.
Camera Innovations and Other Features
One of the most talked-about features of the new Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus is the camera. Samsung has teased that the camera will be “reimagined,” and leaks suggest that the S9 will feature a single 12-megapixel rear camera with variable aperture, while the S9 Plus will boast a dual-camera setup. The variable aperture will allow the camera to switch between f/1.5 and f/2.4, providing better low-light performance and more control over depth of field.
In addition to the camera improvements, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are expected to come with enhanced biometric security features, including an improved iris scanner and facial recognition technology. Samsung’s Intelligent Scan is rumored to combine both iris and facial recognition for more secure and faster unlocking.
The new devices are also expected to feature stereo speakers, tuned by AKG, for an improved audio experience. Samsung is likely to retain the 3.5mm headphone jack, which will be a relief for many users who prefer wired headphones.
Samsung’s new flagship smartphones will also come with the latest version of their custom Android skin, Samsung Experience, based on Android Oreo. This will bring a host of new software features and improvements, including better multitasking capabilities, a more intuitive user interface, and enhanced battery management.
For those who are eager to get their hands on the new devices, pre-orders are expected to start shortly after the event, with the official release date rumored to be in early March.
