We know that the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7R will be launching in South Korea and now it looks like the handset is also headed to China.
Now some listings for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7R have appeared online in China and it looks like the device will cost between CNY 3,599 and 3,999 which is about between $521 and $572 at the current exchange rate.
Specifications and Features
The handset is a refurbished version of the Galaxy Note 7, the handset features a smaller 3200 mAh battery, the original handset came with a 3500 mAh battery. This reduction in battery size is likely a precautionary measure to avoid the overheating issues that plagued the original Note 7. Despite the smaller battery, the Galaxy Note 7R is expected to deliver similar performance and battery life due to optimizations in software and hardware efficiency.
The rest of the specifications on the Galaxy Note 7R are the same as the original Note 7. This includes a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, which offers vibrant colors and deep blacks, making it ideal for media consumption and productivity tasks. The device is powered by an Exynos 8890 processor (or Snapdragon 820 in some regions), coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD card.
The Galaxy Note 7R also retains the S Pen stylus, a hallmark of the Note series, which offers enhanced productivity features such as note-taking, drawing, and precise navigation. The device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI layered on top, providing a smooth and user-friendly experience.
Camera and Additional Features
In terms of camera capabilities, the Galaxy Note 7R features a 12-megapixel rear camera with dual-pixel technology, optical image stabilization, and an f/1.7 aperture, ensuring excellent low-light performance and fast autofocus. The front-facing camera is a 5-megapixel shooter, suitable for selfies and video calls.
The device also includes an iris scanner and a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security, as well as IP68 water and dust resistance, making it a durable option for everyday use. Additionally, the Galaxy Note 7R supports fast charging and wireless charging, ensuring that users can quickly top up their battery when needed.
As yet there are no details on what other countries the device will launch in. However, given the popularity of the Note series, it is possible that Samsung may consider releasing the Galaxy Note 7R in other markets if the demand is high enough. This move could help Samsung recoup some of the losses incurred from the original Note 7 recall and provide consumers with a more affordable option in the premium smartphone segment.
The Galaxy Note 7R’s launch in China and South Korea indicates Samsung’s confidence in the refurbished device’s safety and performance. It also shows the company’s commitment to sustainability by refurbishing and re-releasing devices rather than discarding them entirely.
