If you are in the market for a curved TV and have deep pockets both Samsung and LG have this week announced that their new 105 inch Ultra HD curved TVs, first unveiled at CES at the beginning of this year, are now available to pre-order.
The Samsung UN105S9W curved TV is priced at $119,999.99 in the US and the LG 105UC9 curved TV will be available for pre-order in South Korea this week, with pricing and availability to be announced locally for around $117,000.
The Samsung UN105S9W offers owners a resolution of 5120 x 2160 pixels and is capable of upscale everything to Ultra HD 4K resolutions. Samsung explains :
“UHD Upscaling delivers the complete UHD picture experience with a proprietary process including signal analysis, noise reduction, UHD upscaling and detail enhancement to seamlessly upconvert SD, HD or full HD content to near UHD-level picture quality.”
The LG 105UC9 offers 5K Resolution and CinemaScope 21:9 Aspect Ratio and offers 11 million pixels, five times more than on a Full HD TV and is fitted with a True 4K Engine Pro and IPS 4K Panel. In-kyu Lee, senior vice president and head of the TV Division at LG’s Home Entertainment Company explains :
“The vision behind LG’s 105-inch 21:9 CURVED ULTRA HD TV was to bring the movie theater into the living room,”-“Featuring a curved 5K CinemaScope screen and a 7.2 channel speaker system, the 105UC9 is LG’s most spectacular ULTRA HD TV yet. This product pushes the envelope in home entertainment innovation and demonstrates what is possible when you bring today’s most advanced TV technologies together.”
Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet by Samsung, but as soon as information is released we will keep you updated as always. LG however is hoping to launch their new Ultra HD curved TV during the last few months of this year.
