A new educational robot has been created by a team of developers based in Spain, called Robobo. The educational robot uses the power of smartphones to enable anyone to learn more about programming robots and robotics. The educational robot combines a simple mobile base station equipped with wheels into which you dock your smartphone to create a smart robot using the companion application. The Robobo base is the body while your smartphone provides the brains of the robot. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the new educational robot created by Mint.
The development team behind Robobo explain more about its inspiration. “The first step towards learning autonomous robotics is having tools that can be used in our homes, schools and labs. Affordable tools with the same technology used in future robots. Is that possible? Well, here is where Robobo comes in.“ To program the small desktop robot you can use block-based programming with Scratch or more advanced languages such as ROS (The Robot Operating System) depending on your skill set and requirements.
Robobo is now available to back via Kickstarter with early bird pledges starting from €295 and shipping expected to take place during May 2018 goes well with the crowdfunding campaign.
