Those of you disheartened by the fact that hackers, security experts, the US congress and sue-happy customers keep hitting Sony while it’s down might be surprised to find out it could be worse. It’s easy to forget that PSN is losing money hand over fist for developers who aren’t responsible for its maintenance and smooth operation, simply by virtue of keeping people from buying games and content.
“As an executive responsible for running a business, the resulting outage [is] obviously costing us hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars in revenue that were planned for within our budget. These are funds we rely on to bring new games to market for our fans,” VP Christian Svensson explains in a post on the Capcom Unity forums. Well, there’s a novel thing that hadn’t been blamed on the PSN breach, cancelled games.
