The headset single-handedly bringing VR back is set to receive some enhancements, but not at the hands of its creators. Caleb Kraft of Hackaday designed and printed out new attachments that will allow the Rift to accommodate new cameras and sensors. Because what an already big and reportedly less than comfortable helmet needs is something to make it heavier and more unwieldy.
“While browsing an Oculus Rift thread on Reddit, I saw someone mention how nice it would be to have some actual mounts for external sensors on their Rift,” the creator said. “The idea is that adding additional sensors or cameras will allow us to expand the capabilities of the Rift.”
