Today Nokia has introduced two new handsets to its Asha range of smartphones, in the form of the Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309.
Both devices have been designed by Nokia to provide customers with an affordable capacitive touchscreen experience, and are both 2G enabled. Watch the videos after the jump to see more details and the phones in action.
Features and Specifications
The latest additions to the Nokia Asha Touch range are also supplied supporting Nokia web services and developer tools, with the Nokia Asha 308 also supporting dual SIMs if required. This dual SIM capability is particularly beneficial for users who travel frequently or need to manage multiple phone numbers for personal and business use. Both models feature a 3.0-inch WQVGA capacitive display, which offers a responsive touch experience that is rare in this price segment.
The Nokia Asha 308 and 309 come with a 2-megapixel camera, which, while not groundbreaking, is sufficient for basic photography needs. They also include microSD card support, allowing users to expand storage up to 32GB, which is useful for storing music, videos, and other media. Additionally, both phones come with a suite of pre-installed apps, including social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, making it easier for users to stay connected.
Software and User Experience
One of the standout features of the Nokia Asha 308 and 309 is the inclusion of the Nokia Xpress Browser, which compresses data by up to 90%, resulting in faster browsing speeds and lower data consumption. This is particularly advantageous for users in regions where data costs are high or network speeds are slow. The phones also come with Nokia Maps, providing users with reliable navigation and location-based services.
Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia, explained:
“Our innovative Asha Touch family of devices is designed for people who want a great smartphone experience with lower running costs. By introducing the Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309, we’re expanding our affordable smartphone lineup and bringing new mobile experiences to more people.”
The user interface of the Asha 308 and 309 is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, featuring swipe gestures and a customizable home screen. This makes it easy for users to access their favorite apps and features quickly. The phones also support multitasking, allowing users to switch between apps seamlessly.
Both the Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309 will be arriving in stores during the fourth quarter of this year and will be priced around $99. This competitive pricing makes them an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers looking for a reliable and feature-rich smartphone.
