Microsoft has said that this information was posted to their website by mistake and they will continue to support Bitcoin.
Microsoft has announced that its Microsoft Store is no longer accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment, the company has said that anyone who has an existing balance can spend it at the store but they are not taking any further Bitcoin deposits.
Microsoft has said that they are unable to refund any bitcoin balances from their store, you can see the official statement from them below.
You can no longer redeem Bitcoin into your Microsoft account. Existing balances in your account will still be available for purchases from Microsoft Store, but can’t be refunded.
There is speculation that the company has stopped accepting the currency because it has not become a mainstream for of payment, the Microsoft Store started to accept the currency back in 2014.
It is not clear on the exact reason Microsoft has decided to stop accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment at their online store, as soon as we get some more details we will let you guys know.
